Are you interested in getting involved in this project? We are looking for individuals who are excited about the Cree language (or other Algonquian languages), and enjoy sharing their gifts.
Please contact us if you would be interested in:
- writing stories in English or Cree, following Alberta Education’s curricular guidelines. Click here for a summary of the Cree Grammatical Elements relevant to each grade. In 2013, we will be focusing on developing resources for kindergarten and grade 1.
- translating English stories into Cree. It’s okay if you’re not fluent, as long as you’re committed to giving it your best shot. We have fluent editors who catch our mistakes!
- creating illustrations for stories. These could be ink-and-paper drawings, paintings, sculpted figures, fibre artworks, carvings, digital illustrations, photographs, or any medium that can visually convey a story.
We are particularly interested in working with elementary, high school, university, or even adult classes who would like to provide volunteer contributions to the development of Cree reading resources as part of a class project or assignment. Please e-mail us for more information, or to join our mailing list.
